Objectives: This seminar course surveys current research in the field of multimedia computing. Topics include multimedia data representations, compression, network communications, and content based retrieval in digital libraries.

Prerequisites: CS graduate students or permission of the instructor.

Grading: Programming assignment 15%, quiz (Feb. 17, 45 minutes) 15%, class presentation and participation 35%, term project 35%
Late Penalties:Assignments are due at the beginning of the specified class time. For each day late, 10% of the total possible points will be deducted. No work will be accepted after two days late.
