Simon Fraser University has ranked No. 1 on Canada’s list of top comprehensive universities since 2008, earning this spot thanks to its student and faculty achievements, low student-faculty teaching ratio, strong support services and research grants. In fact since Maclean’s magazine has been publishing this list for the past 20 years, SFU has always ranked at or near the top.
The School of Computing Science follows the tradition of excellence established at SFU. Computing Science is world-renowned for its research and for graduating students who have advanced knowledge in areas such as the internet, multimedia, healthcare and biomedical, and telecommunications, among many others. Other graduates choose to use their broad-based skills to become entrepreneurs and business leaders in their field.
Computing Science currently has 1,000 undergraduates and 200 graduate students taking programs at the two SFU campuses in Burnaby and Surrey. Both campuses are located within Metro Vancouver, one of the most culturally diverse areas in the world offering an exciting urban downtown centre.
The School of Computing Science is housed in the Faculty of Applied Sciences along with the School of Engineering Science. Each School within the Faculty fosters close partnerships with industry to advance research and knowledge, and to develop co-op employment and education opportunities.
