Computing Facilities
The School of Computing Science, one of the largest in Western Canada, has over 50 faculty members and offers B.Sc., B.A., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Computing Science. The School currently has more than 1000 undergraduate and 170 graduate students. Each term, our strong Co-op program places about 140 students in 4- or 8-month co-op positions with local, national and international industries.
The School of Computing Science operates several interconnected Local Area Networks in cooperation with other schools in the Faculty of Applied Sciences and the Centre for Systems Science. These networks are connected to SFU-LAN, the campus-wide network, which provides access to regional (BCnet), national (CA*net) and international networks.
Research labs and equipment
Research computing facilities at the School include over 300 networked workstations, file servers, CPU servers and other specialised systems. Researchers and grad students have general access to Sun Solaris systems and CentOS Linux and Windows workstations. An even wider and more specialised range of equipment and software can be found in the various research labs.

Instructional labs and equipment
Check out the instructional computing facilities too: the Computing Science Instructional Lab (CSIL) comprises Linux and Windows servers and workstations. Special labs allow students to experiment with web programming, network protocols, monitoring and configuration.
Further computing resources are provided by SFU's IT Services. The computer systems, a wide range of software and services are available to the SFU campus community and beyond.
