CSIL Printing FAQ

Where is the printer in CSIL located?

See the CSIL Burnaby Layout for the printer location in CSIL@Burnaby.

What do I need in order to print in CSIL?

You need to purchase a print-release access card. You can buy these cards from vending machines that are located in various areas of the Burnaby campus. For more details see the IT Services Printing FAQ.

Can I print to any other printers on campus?

Yes!

IT Services operates many card access printers on the Burnaby campus, and when you print to DCF_B&W, you could release your print job at any one of these. For the location of other IT Services run printers on the Burnaby campus, click here.

How do I print?

From a Windows or Linux application:

  1. Choose the Print option from your application.
  2. Select the DCF_B&W printer.
  3. Go to the printer release console of your choice on campus (see the above question and answer).
  4. Insert your release card into the card reader by the printer.
  5. Enter your user name on the release console.
  6. Select the print jobs to release or delete.

Why won't the printer print my job?

This can happen for many reasons:

  • You haven't got enough money left on your card.
  • You may have requested the wrong paper size. The printers in CSIL only support letter size paper, specifying any other size may cause the printer to hang.
  • The printer may be out of paper.
  • The printer may be jammed.

Please email helpdesk if the printer isn't working.

How much does printing cost?

Please see the IT Services Printing FAQ for their rates.

Who do I send an e-mail to when the printer is broken?

If you are using the CSIL printer, email helpdesk

If you are using one of the other IT Services printers, contact help AT sfu DOT ca

How do I delete a print job?

Unreleased print jobs are deleted automatically after one hour, so if you just wait an hour, your print job will be deleted from the system. If you want to delete your print job immediately, you can delete it at any print release station.

The CSIL printer is not working. How do I print?

If the CSIL printer is not working, you could release your CSIL print jobs at any other IT Services printer (see Q&A above).
